Hi-Way Courier Services Terms and Conditions of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms 

By opening an account with Hi-Way Courier Services, customers acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. Customers are encouraged to review these Terms periodically, as they may be updated from time to time without prior notice. 

2. Account Registration and Mailing Address 

Upon completion of the registration process, each customer will be assigned a United States mailing address and a unique mailbox number. All shipments must be addressed exactly as provided. 

Incomplete or incorrect addressing may result in delays, additional charges, misdelivery, or loss of goods. Hi-Way Courier Services shall not be held responsible for issues arising from erroneous addressing. 

3. Customer Responsibilities 

Customers are solely responsible for ensuring that merchants or sellers properly package items for shipment in a manner suitable for international transit. Packaging must be sufficient to protect items from damage and to prevent harm to persons, property, or the shipment itself. 

4. Third-Party Handling and Liability 

Hi-Way Courier Services disclaims all liability for loss or damage caused by third parties, including but not limited to online retailers, freight handlers, airlines, shipping agents, or customs authorities in Jamaica. 

Liability applies only to items that are proven to have been lost or damaged while under the direct control of Hi-Way Courier Services. 

5. Documentation and Declaration Requirements 

All invoices and relevant shipping documentation must be submitted prior to the arrival of packages in Jamaica. Customers are required to accurately declare the contents and value of all shipments. Failure to comply may result in delays, penalties, or limited settlement eligibility. 

Customers who do not agree with these requirements are free to seek alternative shipping providers. 

 

 

6. Liability Notice 

HI-WAY COURIER SERVICES is not liable for any loss or damage to customer goods, mail, or shipments prior to their entry into the KP Logistics network.

7. Facilitator Role 

HI-WAY COURIER SERVICES acts solely as a courier and logistics facilitator and does not engage in the trading or sale of goods. The company is not responsible for incorrect purchases, items that differ from online descriptions, or dissatisfaction with seller representations. 

8. Packaging Responsibility and Dispute Resolution 

Proper packaging remains the sole responsibility of the shipper or merchant. HI-WAY COURIER SERVICES does not inspect packaging and will not be liable for damage to fragile or breakable items. 

All disputes regarding packaging, item condition, or seller performance must be resolved directly between the customer and the seller. HI-WAY COURIER SERVICES will not mediate such disputes. 

9. Lost, Stolen, or Misdelivered Items 

HI-WAY COURIER SERVICES is not responsible for loss of cash, stolen goods, incorrect deliveries, or items delivered to the wrong address prior to arrival at our facility. 

10. Liability Limitation and Settlement 

Where liability is established, the maximum settlement for any uninsured shipment is strictly limited to USD $50.00, regardless of the item’s declared or actual value. 

11. Declared Value 

All shipments valued at USD $100.00 or more must be declared before shipping. 

⚠️ Failure to notify Hi-Way Courier Services in advance will result in a maximum settlement of USD $50.00 for any lost or misplaced package.

Dear Customer,
Once your packages are ready for collection, we will notify you accordingly. Please note that Hiwaycourier holds no liability for any damages that may occur due to natural disasters.

Packages are updates in batches. Once a package has been delivered at the warehouse house , it takes up to 24 hours or by the end of the next day to be updated on the system. If two days have passed and you haven’t received and update , please contact us asap. Also please to double check your address information.

After your package arrives at our Florida warehouse and is logged into our system, it typically takes 3 to 5 business days to reach Jamaica and clear customs. In terms of our shipping schedule, we ship two or three times a week by air on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays and once a week by sea on Thursdays. Please note that these days may vary. If there are any delays, we will promptly notify our customers.

Hiwaycourier has to declare to Jamaica customs the contents and value of each package entering the country through our service. If invoices are not provided, this will result in delays at customs and there is the possibility that the customs officer inspecting the shipment will assign a higher value to your package.

To avoid paying custom duties please ensure that your package value/cost stay below $100usd.

Storage Policy Update

Please review our updated storage policy carefully to avoid additional fees or forfeiture of packages.

Collection Timeframes

  • High-Value & Box Packages:
    Packages valued at USD $100 or more, as well as all box packages, must be collected within 2 business days before storage fees apply.
  • Soft & Lightweight Packages:
    Must be collected within 7 days once marked Ready for pickup or delivery.

Storage Fees (Applied daily, including weekends and holidays):

  • Soft packages: JMD $100 per day
  • Single large boxes: JMD $350 per day

Unclaimed & Auction Policy

  • Unclaimed packages left in storage for 10 days will be considered abandoned and subject to auction.
  • Claimed soft packages that remain uncollected for up to 30 days will be auctioned to recover freight and clearance fees.
  • Claimed boxes and heavy-weight packages that remain uncollected after 14 days will be auctioned to recover freight and clearance fees.

We do not accept packages that are shipped without the registered name and correct mailbox number for security reasons. Signing up for our service is free, and the mailbox number you receive should be kept confidential. All packages must match the registered name, and a valid government ID is required upon pickup.

Please note that failure to register and use our Shipping address or use someone else mailbox number will result in an administrative fee of JMD $1,500 (subject to change at any time).

All packages coming through Jamaica Customs are opened and inspected by a customs officer to verify that the invoice matches the contents of the package. They are then resealed using cello tape.

Notice – Unknown Packages

Unknown packages are packages that are shipped without the required courier code Address Line 2.

To avoid your package being sent to Unknown, please ensure that you use the complete address provided to you upon registration with the company. This includes:
• Your Hiwaycourierja courier code
• Your assigned mailbox number

⚠️ Failure to use the complete address may result in your package being delivered to the wrong address or sent to the Unknown Department.

Process to Retrieve Unknown Packages

1. The customer must provide the following information:
• Delivery slip
• Tracking number
• Full name on the package
• Proof of the address used when ordering

2. Once all required information is submitted, an investigation will be conducted.

3. If the package location is confirmed, the company will submit a retrieval request to the Unknown Department using the information provided by the customer for the package to be shipped to the company.

4. Estimated retrieval timeframe: 2–3 weeks.

5. If the package is not successfully retrieved after one (1) month, neither the company nor the warehouse will be held liable for a refund or replacement of the package.

6. Once the package is physically retrieved, the customer will receive an update via email.

7. Cost to retrieve package:
• $500 JMD for soft packages
• $1,000 – $2,500 JMD for boxes (based on size)

All customers shipping with Hiwaycourier are required to declare the contents of their packages by submitting a complete invoice. This process ensures compliance with customs regulations and protects our customers from fraudulent claims.

What a Complete Invoice Must Include:
1. Order Number
2. Screenshot of Tracking Number from the seller or carrier
3. Description of Items with a detailed cost breakdown
4. Checkout Total showing the final amount paid

Submission Deadline:
All invoices must be submitted once the package arrives at our warehouse but before it reaches Jamaica.

Why Invoices Are Important:
Invoices are not only required for customs clearance but also protect customers by ensuring that packages are only claimed by their rightful owners.

Consequences of Missing Invoices:
• Packages without invoices are more likely to be detained, resulting in a reclearance fee.
• If Hiwaycourier successfully clears a package from customs without an invoice, the customer is still required to submit the necessary information.
• Packages will not be released until the required evidence is provided.

If package is cleared without invoice, storage fee will still apply after 5 days

Storage Fees: After 5 days, storage fees will apply:

– Small Packages:$200 JMD per day.
– Single Packages (e.g., boxes): $350 JMD per day.
– Note: Storage fees are applicable even on holidays.

If a package remains unclaimed after 10 days of storage, it will be considered unclaimed and may be subject to auction.

– If a claimed package is left uncollected for up to a month, it will be auctioned to cover expenses such as freight charges and local clearance fees.

If you have multiple packages ready the first set of ready packages would have to be collected first before others can be released.
